Equal Parts Cocktail: 9th Wonder

I have always been keen on equal parts cocktails, such as the Last Word and the Paper Plane. There is just something so cool about being able to get the ingredients to work with each in harmony, rather than one dominating over the others. For this recipe, I reached for tequila and combined it with a little chocolate & poblano goodness. Although, there is no simple syrup in the drink, as the drink is only citrus and alcohol, the drink works due to the balance between the ABV of the tequila and the liqueurs in the drink, Ancho Reyes and the Creme de Cacao. The Ancho Reyes is a bit more dry and clocks in at 40%, while the Creme de Cacao is much sweeter with an ABV at only 25%. If the Ancho Reyes were replaced with another liqueur that was similar to the Creme de Cacao in regards to ABV and sugar, the drink would be cloyingly sweet, and vice versa, if the Creme de Cacao were replaced with something along the some ABV and sweetness as the Ancho Reyes, the drink would be much too dry. The key to balancing a good equal parts cocktail is all about bringing the balance between liqueurs.
