I know that most of ya’ll are super busy selling lots of booze & making loads of tips at your bars due to the holidays, but don’t forget that January is generally one of the slowest months of the year, so don’t forget to plan accordingly. If you are bartender, be sure and save some tips for next month, so you aren't struggling to pay rent. And for all you bar owners and bar managers, don’t forget to plan events, specials, etc, so you can keep the money flowing into the registers   for the month of January. Things like guest-bartenders, spirits trainings & brand happy hours can be a great way to generate revenue in an otherwise slow month. As for the administrative side, be sure to adjust schedules and staff hours, so you aren’t paying people to stand around, which not only drains your labor hours, but leads to a frustrated and bored staff. I know that this isn’t an exciting post to read about, but it is paramount when it comes to keeping the lights on & much too easy to overlook due to November & December being so busy for most of us.
