Market Cocktails: Easy Gin Cocktail

Bartender At Large - Covid Home Edition-292.jpg

In continuing our theme of Market Cocktails, delicious and creative cocktails that are made exclusively with easily sourced and inexpensive ingredients, we are now bringing you a gin classic that is much underrated, the Floradora. This cocktail dates to the turn of the 20th century and was named after an Edwardian musical comedy that was a smash hit on Broadway at the time. While we have never seen the play, if it is even half as good as the drink, then we have no doubt that its success was well deserved. While the recipe traditionally called for raspberry syrup (or even raspberry liqueur,) if you don’t happen to have any on hand, the drink works every bit as well, with muddled raspberries and simple syrup as indicated below. Just be sure that you fine strain the cocktail, to avoid any raspberry chunks in the final product. With that said, cheers & we hope you enjoy.

FLORADORA
2oz London Dry Gin
.75oz Lime Juice
.5oz Simple Syrup
3 Raspberries

METHOD: Muddle & Shake. Fine-strain over Ice. Top with Ginger Ale

GLASSWARE: Collins

GARNISH: Lime Wedge & Raspberry
